I think they are quite similar. Scientists work more on coming up with the ideas and the engineers try to make the ideas work.

Yes they can work on the same things and complement each other.

they could be .. depends on how they want to focus on abstract science or practical science .. engineers are more practical .. scientists could be either of them ..
